Fifth graders should come to school each day with a healthy snack. We
don't have a set snack time. Fifth graders can munch on their healthy
"brain food" whenever they need to. During the first few days of school
we will discuss what makes a snack a healthy choice and brainstorm a
list of snack ideas.

Water Bottles

Most fifth graders like to bring water from home to drink at school. Most carry such water in disposable plastic bottles, which creates an enormous amount of waste. Think about it: If 20 students (in our class alone) bring in one water bottle a day for a month that means 400 plastic water bottles every month are used and tossed away! Multiply that by four fifth grade classes and we've identified an even bigger problem! In an effort to be "green" KHS does recylce. However, it is important that we remember to reduce and reuse. It is not healthy to re-use all water bottles. However, there are many that are reusable and can be thrown right in the dishwasher. Here are a couple green choices that you may be interested in:
